Topeka (WIBW) - Topeka Police are turning to cast a web around the city's graffiti problems - the world wide web.
The latest incidents happened overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.
Topeka Police were called to Van Buren street between 1st avenue and Crane. They say several businesses in the area were tagged with what appear to be gang symbols.
Topeka Police Lt. Tom Glor says such tagging is how gangs mark their territory.
Code enforcement inspectors took pictures of the images and uploaded them to "Graffiti Tracker."
It's a web-based system that helps law enforcement catch and prosecute graffiti vandals. It help analyze graffiti and offers interactive mapping services.
Anyone with information on the taggings should contact Topeka Crime Stoppers at 785-234-0007.
