(WIBW) - A man whose hold-up note included an apology will spend nearly five years behind bars.

40-year old Michael Maples of Wichita was sentenced to 57 months for two bank robberies.

In his plea, Maples admitted that on March 19, 2009, he robbed Commerce Bank at 1250 S. Woodlawn in Wichita, and on March 24, 2009, he robbed Sunflower Bank at 4101 E. Harry in Wichita.

In the Commerce Bank robbery, he handed the teller a note saying: “Please place all the money on the counter. No (dye) packs or tricks. I am armed. Thank you! I’m sorry!”

In the Sunflower Bank robbery, he gave the teller a note saying: “Place 2 $5,000 stacks of $100 bills on the counter. You have exactly 30 seconds. No (dye) packs, no tricks and do not press any buttons. I am armed. I apologize. Thank you!”
