Augusta (KAKE) - The shooting death of a Butler County teenager has authorities reminding adults to speak up about underage drinking.

14-year old Augusta High School freshman Andrea Young was killed Friday night. Police say she was attending an underage drinking party at the home of 25-year old Morgan Jarvi. Police say Jarvi was showing off a gun when it fired, hitting Young.

Augusta Public Safety Chief Tyler Brewer says the public needs to speak up when they suspect underage drinking in their neighborhood. He says while kids will be kids and at times act irresponsibly, there's no excuse for an adult to not be responsible.

Neighbors who know Jarvi say is a hard-working father and what happened was an accident. He faces a charge of involuntary manslaughter.

What? The neighbors say the 25 year old was a hard working father and it was an accident? What is a 25 year old father doing providing a 14 year old girl with alcohol at an underage drinking party. He should go to prison. What about the new law that says adults providing alcohol in their home to underage drinkers go to jail. First strike, you're out!
