(WIBW) - A Carbondale couple have pleaded guilty to charges of Medicaid fraud.
The Kansas Attorney General's Office says Linda and Randal Woods each pleaded guilty to one count of making a false claim to the Medicaid program and three counts of forgery.
Prosecutors say the couple filled out timesheets indicating their older son was providing personal care attendant services for their younger special needs son. However, prosecutors say, that wasn't the case. They say the coupld was forging the older son's signature to cash the checks, then putting the money into their own bank accounts.
“I have made eliminating fraud and abuse from the Medicaid program a priority for my administration,” Attorney General Steve Six said in a statement. “It is important that we hold people accountable when they make false claims to Medicaid.”
The Woods face a sentence of 11 to 34 months on the false claim charge and 7 to 23 months on the forgery charges. They will be sentenced Dec. 14 in Osage County District Court.
