Hugoton Man Charged With Mother's Death
Michael Maestas Jr. was charged Monday in the stabbing death of 52-year-old Lorenza Maestas at her home. Stevens County officials say Maestras called the sheriff's office on Saturday morning and said he had stabbed his mother.

HUGOTON, Kan. (AP) _ A Hugoton man is jailed after being charged with first-degree murder in the death of his mother.

Twenty-five-year-old Michael Maestas Jr. is jailed on $1 million bond, awaiting a preliminary hearing on Sept. 10.

Maestas was charged Monday in the stabbing death of 52-year-old Lorenza Maestas at her home. Stevens County officials say Maestras called the sheriff's office on Saturday morning and said he had stabbed his mother.
