Topeka (WIBW) - A new statewide campaign aims to reduce the incidents of domestic violence in Kansas.

The Governor's Domestic Violence Fatality Review Board teamed up with the Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence to announce the "Believe It, Help Change It" campaign. Current Attorney General Steve Six and Former AG Robert Stephan were on hand for Wednesday morning's announcement.

The campaign aims to raise awareness of domestic violence by showing people how someone they know could be a victim. The campaign features a web site with resources for victims and 10 things anyone can do to end domestic violence. It can be found at www.helpchangekansas.com.

The campaign's announcement coincides with the 20th anniversary of the Kansas Crime Victim's Act. Stephan was considered one of the pioneers in Kansas domestic violence legislation. He says programs and services for victims have greatly improved.

Following the campaign announcement, a plaque dedicated to Stephan was placed near a tree at the Statehouse, commemorating his work for crime victims.
