EMPORIA, Kan. (AP) _ Police say the suspect in Emporia's first homicide of the year was the victim's live-in girlfriend.
The 24-year-old woman is being held in the Lyon County jail on suspicion of second-degree murder, but no formal charges have been filed.
Twenty-six-year-old Ricky Nurnberg was found dead at the couple's apartment Wednesday night. Police say he had been beaten.
Assistant Lyon County Attorney Amy Aranda says prosecutors have not decided when or if to charge the suspect.
Police Chief Gary Smith says there is no evidence that anyone else was involved in the death.

As a friens of hers i am going to defend her and let everyone whom has read this story know that this death was never intetional but self defence i have no clue how many time rickey beat the hell out of her but a girl has every right to defend her self even if it does come down to some one dieind and i am not saying any thing bad towards the victom but i have seen how many time he had beated her and i know just how many time she ran to my familys home to have some secruity and saftey so as far as i am concerned this was and accident not suppost to happen and i hope that the victoms family can some day come to believe that there is a reason for every thing not saying she was perfect because she wasnt she has a lot of alcohol and drug problems but so did he so every one sould just let bygones be bygones

as i read this the assistant county attorney hasn't chose to file. hello she killed her boyfriend i say file it and charge her with 1st degree murder. she knew what she was doing. im formely of emporia and that city hasn't done much since i left except go down hill do to killings and others things....CHARGE HER LYON COUNTY BEFORE STEVEN SIX PUTS CAPITAL MURDER ON HER
