HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) _ A judge hands a Hutchinson parolee nine life sentences, without the possibility of parole for almost 80 years for molesting four young girls.
At sentencing in Reno County District Court Monday, 30-year-old Jared Race continued to deny he committed the crimes. The attacks took place between July 2006 and July 2007 at homes in Hutchinson and Langdon.
Judge Tim Chambers told Race, "The children in the case are also in prison.''
Race was convicted July 11 of two counts of rape, four counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and three counts of aggravated sodomy. Three girls now aged 6, 7 and 11 testified against Race and described seeing him molest a fourth girl.
Race was on parole at the time for 1996 convictions for kidnapping and robbery, stemming from a restaurant holdup in which he locked employees in a freezer.
