WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ The capital murder trial of the man accused of killing a pregnant Wichita teenager resumes with testimony from a key witness.
Everett Gentry took the witness stand Monday to testify against 49-year-old Theodore Burnett. Burnett is accused of strangling 14-year-old Chelsea Brooks, but prosecutors say Gentry played a role in the June 2006 slaying.
Gentry entered a plea agreement with prosecutors, and has been sentenced to life in prison.
Cell phone records allegedly show Gentry was a quarter-mile from the crime scene not long after Brooks disappeared.
Gentry confessed to helping carry out the murder, then named Burnett and Elgin "Ray Ray'' Robinson in the case. Robinson was the father of Brooks' unborn baby. Robinson is charged with capital murder for allegedly paying $500 to have Brooks killed.
