BONNER SPRINGS, Kan. (AP) _ Investigators suspect foul play in the death of a 48-year-old nursing home resident in Bonner Springs.

Police said Monday they're investigating the death of a William Webb as a homicide. The Wyandotte County district attorney's office says prosecutors are waiting for autopsy results before ruling whether Webb's death was a homicide.

Officers were called to Bonner Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Sunday to assist in an ambulance call. A police report said Webb knew his alleged attacker, who was listed as an acquaintance.

Authorities did not say whether anyone was in custody or release other details of what happened.

Administrators at the facility had no comment.

At least the police are getting involved. Too often the bureacrats do the investigation and the result is that the investigation of a crime is done by social workers who don't have investigation skills and nothing criminal is identified or pursued. I don't know why Mr. Webb was in a Nursing home, but my thoughts are with the family. I had to be in a Nursing home for three years becuase my health insurance wouldn't cover the procedure I needed in home.

There is no safe place. Unfortunately.

Many yonger people have to have special care they can't get at home. Sometimes it's temporary and sometimes permanent care. I guess they'll tell us when and if they're ready to tell us. Nursing homes can be dangerous places. My 83 year old mother had to defend herself against a male patient in a Georgia nursing home. She hit him in the head with something that really hurt him to keep him out of her room at night. I wish there was a good answer to this problem.
