Federal charges have been filed in a Lawrence carjacking.

The U.S. Attorney's office says Edward Wise is charged with one count of possession of a firearm with intent to cause harm, one count of brandishing a firearm during a carjacking, and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm after a felony conviction.

An indictment accused Wise of brandishing a 9 mm Ruger pistol when he stole an occupied Toyota Highlander on Jan. 30 in Lawrence.

If convicted, Wise could faces from five years to life in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000 on each of the charges.
