Williams scores 23 as K-State wins Sunflower Showdown in OT

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Kansas State Wildcats overcame a six-point deficit with less than a minute remaining in regulation to beat Kansas 63-59 in overtime on Sunday afternoon.

Peyton Williams, who led K-State with 23 points, put the Wildcats up six with five minutes remaining.

The Jayhawks went on a 12-0 run over the next two-and-a-half minutes to take a 47-41 lead. The 12-0 run was sparked by four three pointers, two by Brianna Osorio and two by Kylee Kopatich. Both finished with 15 points.

The Wildcats closed the gap with a Rachel Ranke three with 49 seconds remaining. With the full-court press on, the Cats got a steal followed by a layup from Kayla Goth to cut the lead to 49-48.

Kopatich drained two free throws with 14 seconds left to put the Jayhawks up three. Out of a timeout, the Wildcats found Ranke for a game-tying three-pointer, sending the game to overtime.

It was a one-possession game until the final minute of the extra period. After two KU free throws made it 59-56, Williams hit a turnaround jumper with 20 seconds left to put K-State up five and seal the win.
