COPPERAS COVE, Texas (WIBW) -- The Washburn Ichabods defense forced five turnovers, including two interceptions returned for touchdowns, in a 41-25 win over Angelo State in the Heart of Texas Bowl.
With Washburn leading 7-3 in the 2nd quarter, Peter Pfannenstiel picked off a pass and returned it 38 yards for a touchdown. It was his second interception of the game.
The Ichabods would add another touchdown, a Blake Peterson 10-yard run, before halftime to lead 21-3 after two quarters.
The defense struck again when Josh Wright returned an interception 48 yards to make it 28-10.
Peterson threw for 251 yards and one touchdown. Five Ichabods combined to rush for 153 yards.
James Brania-Hopp led the Ichabods with four catches for 111 yards and a touchdown.
Washburn finishes the season 7-5.
