Washburn Rural, Wabaunsee have multiple wrestlers win state titles

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Northeast Kansas was well-represented at state wrestling tournaments Saturday, and nine athletes are taking home individual titles.

Washburn Rural had three wrestlers win titles in the Class 6A/5A meet. Bishop Murray (106), Gunnar Murray (132), and Gavin Carter 195) finished first in their respective weight classes.

Manhattan's Bubba Wilson won the state title at 152 pounds.

In 4A, Wamego's Tylar Patrick finished first in the 285 pound weight class.

Wabaunsee had two wrestlers win state titles in the Class 3A/2A/1A tournament: Riley Tubbs at 132 pounds, and Kolby Droegemeier at 138.

Rossville's Isaiah Luellen won his weight class (160). The 285 pound weight class was won by Sabetha's Elliott Strahm.
