Washburn & Emporia State to host MIAA Tournament opening round

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WIBW) -- The Emporia State Lady Hornets and the Washburn Ichabods will host opening round games of the MIAA Women's Basketball Tournament on Monday, Feb. 26.

ESU is seeded sixth and will host 11-seed Northeastern State. Washburn, seeded seventh, hosts 10-seed Southwest Baptist.

The Lady Hornets split the season series with the RiverHawks, winning 86-66 in Emporia in January, and losing 75-67 in February. If ESU wins, the Lady Hornets will face Fort Hays State in the next round.

Washburn swept Southwest Baptist this season by a combined total of eight points. The Ichabods won 77-72 in overtime in January, then won 69-66 in mid-February.

If Washburn beats Southwest Baptist, the Ichabods will face Central Oklahoma.
