LAWRENCE, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Kansas Jayhawks used strong offense and tough starting pitching to beat West Virginia on Saturday and Sunday to take the series from the Mountaineers.
Taylor Turksi started Sunday afternoon, throwing six innings and allowing just one run. He struck out seven in the 5-2 win.
The Jayhawks hit three home runs in the series finale.
Saturday's game saw former Seaman Viking Ryan Zeferjahn surrender a two-run home run in the second inning. He did not allow a run after that.
Zeferjahn earned his seventh win of the season, throwing seven innings, allowing six hits, and he struck out eight.
The Jayhawks offense, one day after being outscored 21-3, scored 13 runs in the win. Eight of KU's nine starters had a hit.
