CHICAGO (WIBW) -- Seaman softball player Lauren Mills was named the Gatorade Kansas Softball Player of the Year Monday.
She is the first Seaman Viking to win the award.
Mills, a senior, hit .696 with 15 home runs and 60 RBI this past season, leading the Vikings to the Class 5A state semifinals. She walked 39 times and had an on-base percentage of .825.
As a pitcher, Mills was 8-1 with a 3.43 ERA.
For her career, Mills hit .731 with 37 home runs.
She is heading to Wichita State next year to play softball.
