K-State scores 5 in 9th, KU homers in 10th to win

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) -- Kansas State scored five runs in the 9th inning to tie the score 8-8, but Benjamin Sems hit a game-winning solo home run in the 10th to push KU to a 9-8 win in game one.

The Jayhawks scored three runs in the first two innings, then added four in the fourth to lead 7-2.

Entering the 9th, KU led 8-3 and brought on Zack Leban for the final three outs.

The first seven batters reached base for Kansas State. It started with a walk, a single, then an RBI double to make it 8-5.Four straight walks by Leban tied the game at 8.

The Wildcats had the bases loaded and nobody out. Leban got a fielder's choice to shortstop (force out at home). He followed with back-to-back strikeouts.

In the 10th, Sems hit an opposite field home run to lift KU to the win.
