OMAHA, Neb. (WIBW) - KU fans have never had a problem following their team as they climb up the NCAA bracket and this year in Omaha is no different.
Fans from all over the nation flocked to support their Jayhawks. Many gathered at a pep rally Friday before their team tipped off against Clemson in the Sweet 16.
"You kind of feel like you are coming home, then you walk in here and you see nothing but Jayhawk logos everywhere and you are like, my people," KU alumn Stacy Jasen said. "It feels so much fun to get so excited to watch the game."
A win Friday gives the Jayhawks their third-straight trip to the Elite 8. Fans appreciate the ride, but say the year already has been a success.
"Getting the 14th-straight conference championship is as important to me as going deep into the tournament, just because we set a history that I don't think will ever be repeated," KU alumn Joe Heck said.
While the Rock Chalk faithful did have to hold their breath down the stretch, they now exhale - and get ready for their team's Sunday matchup against either Duke or Syracuse.
