Young girl rappers, Topeka High senior chosen as opening acts

TOPEKA (WIBW) -- If you've never heard Pop, Rhythm and Blues singer Roger Ortega, you have a chance to see the Topekan in concert a month from today.

He's bringing some talented Topeka girls to perform as his opening acts in the Gage Amphitheatre show on June 4th.

The Candii Gyrls are 12 and 15 years old. Good friend Makiya attends Highland Park High, while her "Candii Gyrlz" partner Aliya, is a 12-year old French Middle School student. The Candii Gyrlz have been performing together at local events for three years, and their video is absolutely awesome. (We did play a short clip on the news.)

Topeka High Senior Alia Fellows is described by Roger as a singer with "a sultry voice that won us over."

She's also been a singer and dancer since her younger years.

The Roger Ortega Concert is free and open to the public in the Gage Amphitheatre at 7:00pm June 4th. And we hope you'll come early so you won't miss your Good Kidz in concert too!

The parents of both acts have been very supportive and encouraging and were instrumental in the kids submitting videos.
