WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH)- Wichita police have identified a doctor killed near Central and Edgemoor Wednesday night as Dr. Achutha Reddy.
Police say around 7:22 a.m., officers received a call of a cutting at 625 N. Carriage Parkway.
When officers arrived, they located a 57-year-old victim in the alley behind the business with numerous stab wounds.
A short time later, around 7:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to a suspicious character call at the Wichita Country Club, located near 13th & Rock Road.
A security guard there saw a man in a car in the parking with blood on him. Police arrived at the country club and arrested a 21-year-old man for the death of Dr. Reddy.
Lt. Ojile says the man is a client of Dr. Reddy's and had been at his office earlier in the day.
Ojile says the man was in the business short time, he left and then later came back with Dr. Reddy and they went into an office.
Ojile says a disturbance could be heard in the office. An office manager entered the office to find the suspect attacking Dr. Reddy.
She tried to stop the attack which allowed the doctor to flee from the office.
The suspect then chased Dr. Reddy out of the business and into the alley where the second assault occurred.
According to booking sheets, 21-year-old Umar Dutt was arrested Wednesday night and booked into the Sedgwick County jail for first-degree murder.
