Wichita Police: one dead, another hurt in early-morning bar shooting

WICHITA, Kan. (WIBW) -- One person is dead, another hospitalized, after an early-morning shooting at an east Wichita club.

Wichita Police were called to a report of a fight in the 7000 block of E. Harry at around 3:00 a.m. Sunday.

When officers arrived, they heard gunshots. They then found two people who'd been shot. One of them, a man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other, a woman, suffered a gunshot wound to her upper-body. She was taken to the hospital for surgery. Police do not believe her injuries are life-threatening.

So far, no arrests have been made.

"We have witnesses downtown that are being talked to," said Wichita Police Captain Wendell Nicholson. "We also have another person of interest we're talking to downtown, but still early, just happened not too long ago, so we're still trying to determine what happened."

Police don't know how many people were at the club when the fight started, but they say it was full.
