Two Topeka High journalism students prepare for the next level

TOPEKA (WIBW) -- Two Topeka High students placed at the regional journalism competition held at the University of Kansas on February 22nd. Students competed in the crimson division against area 5/ 6A high schools.

THS Senior Tessa Duncan placed first in feature writing. Adam Cole, who's a junior, placed third in yearbook sports writing. Duncan and Cole write for the Topeka High newspaper, THS Tower. Both students are qualified for the state journalism contest.

This event is sponsored by the Kansas Scholastic Press Association (KSPA). In the regional contest, students from 86 different schools competed in 19 different categories in 12 different classifications organized by geography and school size.

KSPA enlists the help of journalism teachers, professional journalists, university faculty members and other journalism experts to judge the entries.

The state contest will be held at the University of Kansas on May 7th. Congratulations to Tessa and Adam for joining our esteemed list of Good Kids, and good luck to them at State!
