Topeka Lodging Assoc. honors outstanding hotel workers

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The people working on the front lines of Topeka's tourism industry took a turn in the spotlight Monday.

The Topeka Lodging Association held its 14th annual Awards of Excellence. The event recognizes the efforts of hotel and motel employees as the "shining stars" in presenting a positive image of the Capital City to visitors.

Honored as outstanding breakfast attendant was Guadalupe Gutierrez-Ramirez of Clubhouse Inn; for head housekeeper, Rebecca Dixon from Candlewood Suites; Alysia Foust of Courtyard by Marriott was chosen among front desk associates; Calvin Tillman from Courtyard was named outstanding maintenance worker; best room attendant was Kristy Eckrode of Capitol Plaza; Kris Daniels of Capitol Plaza won the award for banquet server and setup workers; and Robert Gomez from Clubhouse Inn was outstanding night auditor.

13's Melissa Brunner was happy to honor the winners and nominees by emceeing the event.

Greater Topeka Partnership CEO Matt Pivarnik also spoke on how important hospitality workers are to the community.
