Three die in SE Kansas crash involving a deer

ALLEN COUNTY, Kan. (WIBW) Three women are dead after a crash involving a deer in Southeast Kansas Sunday afternoon.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says the women were traveling south on US-169, about four miles south of Iola when the accident happened.

According to the crash log, a deer came out of the east ditch and was struck by a northbound driver. It then continued across the highway and struck the 2012 Dodge Caravan the women were in.

Officials say their van came to rest in the southbound ditch facing south.

Sherry Bingham,33, and Ciara Edwards, 32, both of Chanute, and Samantha McMillian, 37, of Walnut, Kansas were all killed in the crash.

The patrol says all three were wearing seatbelts.

The driver of the northbound car was not injured.
