This Week: June 20 -25

Monday, June 20, is the day Summer begins. It's also the day the Democratic Precinct Committee Members of the 53rd House District will hold a special meeting at the TSCPL to elect someone to fill the remainder of Annie Tietze's term. Tietze has resigned.

The Topeka Community Foundation will announce the results of Topeka Gives at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. They'll also announce the top three organizations with the highest amount of contributions; the top three organizations with the most donors; and a list of every participating organization and the amount they received. Checks will be distributed to organizations that morning, too.

Wednesday is the Colmery Memorial Plaza Dedication from 2-3 p.m. in the 900 block of S. Kansas Avenue in downtown Topeka. It will be followed by a USO show. You're welcome to take lawn chairs. Harry W. Colmery (1890-1979) is a Distinguished Topeka and Author of the GI Bill of Rights.

The Kicker Country Stampede kicks off Thursday in Manhattan. Headliners during the weekend include Tim McGraw, Sam Hunt, Jake Owen and Dierks Bentley.

Friday is Wheatstock 12 at Old Prairie Town. It's also the date for the interactive murder mystery at Topeka Civic Theatre, Art of Murder.

Tap That Topeka, a capital brew festival, is planned for Saturday in downtown Topeka.
