Third graders learn stage acting, makeup in TPAC workshops

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - It was a day full of dancing, makeup and costumes for local 3rd graders.

The students took part in the Topeka Performing Art Center's Sheffel Theatre Clinic, where they attended five different workshops based around different aspects of theater. They learned acting, costuming, makeup, movement and technical staging.

The Executive Director of TPAC hopes the day inspires the next generation of state performers.

"We hope that the light bulb goes off in some child's head and they think maybe theater, in one way or another, becomes a calling for them," said Larry Gawronski.

After the workshops, the students ended the day by watching a live performance put on by actors at TPAC.
