Thieves use pickup to pull ATM from S. Wichita business

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) -- The Wichita Police Department is investigating an early-morning robbery of an ATM from the Bingo Casino in the 2400 block of East Mount Vernon.

Investigators encourage people to be on the lookout for a unique pickup truck involved in the theft. Police say three suspects in this case left the scene in a 1990's Chevy or GMC 2500 extended cab long-bed pickup that is white with black lower trim and zebra stripes on the side. The truck also does not have a tailgate, police say.

Police say the suspects put a towrope around the ATM inside the business and used the truck to pull the machine through the front of the business. The suspects then loaded the machine into the back of the truck and fled the scene.

Mary Oglasbee, manager of the Bingo Casino says the damage caused by the burglars is in the thousands, "They tore out tables and chairs, they just destroyed the bingo hall in seconds, for nothing. The ATM machine tempted them to think there was lots of money in it. It's sad."

Ayone with information on the ATM theft or the vehicle or suspects involved should call Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
