TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) — The Topeka Police Dept. has released the name of the man found dead inside a burning car a week ago.

They identified the victim as Arnulfo Garcia, 30, of Lawrence.

The Topeka Fire Dept.'s Arson investigators ruled the fire was intentionally set and the Shawnee Co. Coroner's Office is calling the death a homicide, police said.

Anyone with information about his death is encouraged to call Topeka Police Dept. detectives at 785-368-9400.

TPD previously said an unidentified person approached an off-duty firefighter around 2 a.m. on Dec. 30 at a gas station and told them about a car fire at SE 15th and Hudson, a few blocks away.

Topeka fire crews found the vehicle fully engulfed. They put out the flames, then found a Garcia's body inside the vehicle.
