TOPEKA (WIBW) -- Like millions of other very concerned Americans, Lt. Bill Miller of Topeka Fire Department was glued to the television set and sat in stunned silence viewing the images of the collapses of the twin towers of the World Trade Center.

In the wake of the national tragedy we mark the 15h anniversary of this Sunday, NYFD firefighters spanned the country to thank their brother firefighters in other cities for their support. Saying there was no way a group from Topeka would ever be imposed upon to make a trip to New York, Bill Miller took up the challenge from the Brooklyn firefighter.

He shares a few of his memories and mementos of 9/11 and their journey to Ground Zero, in this special report this week from 13 News, to mark the anniversary.
