RCPD: Suspect comes forward in pedestrian hit & run

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) — The Riley Co. Police Dept. says a man has came forward in a hit and run that injured a 21-year-old woman last Friday.

Police said in a release late Thursday that the man was not arrested, and his identity will not be released until the investigation is over.

The Riley Co. Police Dept. released video Thursday showing the white pickup truck they say struck a 21-year-old woman last Friday.

The surveillance video focuses on a parking lot in the foreground, but the truck can be seen crossing from right to left across the screen.

RCPD described it as a light-colored 2011-16 Chevrolet or GMC extended cab pickup. Based on witness statements, they say it may have not suffered much damage.

Police identified the victim as Amber Wilhelm. She was first taken to Via Christi before being life-flighted to Stormont-Vail.

RCPD says the truck did not stop after striking Wilhelm shortly before 2:00 a.m. near the intersection of 12th and Bluemont.
