RCPD seizes dozens of plants seized; now looking for their owners

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) — The Riley Co. Police Dept. wants to find whoever owned dozens of plants officers seized over the weekend.

According to the RCPD, officers were called shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday to the 3600 block of Everett Drive on reports of theft and drug possession.

The victims, Heather White-Brighton, 39, and Michael Brighton, 39, said someone they know stole a plant from their home. When officers stopped the suspect, they found approximately 25 potted and free-standing plants, as well as a leaf blower, a hedge trimmer, and other miscellaneous gardening items.

Investigators believe all of those items were stolen.

Officers also found items which they say tested positive for methamphetamine while they were in the field.

RCPD did not list the name of the suspect involved.
