EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW)- Emporia authorities are investigating a pair of separate wrecks early Thursday morning -- one of which was fatal.

KVOE Radio reports the fatal crash was called in around 2 a.m. Thursday near the intersection of South and Carter. Authorities say a SUV left South Avenue and hit a tree, just a few feet from a house.

26-year old Andrea Landis of Emporia died from injuries sustained in the crash.

A separate crash was reported later in the morning at Peter Pan Park. KVOE reports that a car apparently drove into the park and slid across the lagoon, before crashing into a landing.

No word on any injuries with that crash.

We'll provide more information once it becomes available.
