No "kitten" around: Cat stuck on roof of minivan going 60+ mph

OMAHA, Neb. (KETV) — Humane Society officials in Nebraska are amazed and concerned about a jaw-dropping video shot by a family driving on the Interstate. It shows a van cruising at highway speeds - with a cat holding onto the roof.

"My daughter says there's a cat on that van, and I was like oh no, that's a raccoon. My husband's pulling up closer and I'm like, oh my god, no, that's a cat," Ronda Rankin said.

Rankin and her family captured the bizarre scene Friday.

"It looked scared. Like, what the heck is going on?" Rankin added.

Rankin was eventually able to get the driver's attention and let her know she has an unexpected passenger. She says the van had pulled over before they were out of sight. They just hope it's safe now.

"What happened? Is it their cat? Did it jump off? Were they able to get it?" she said.

The Humane Society wants to know what happened too.

"We have never seen a video like that before," the Nebraska Humane Society's Mark Langan says.

The group thinks the cat, believed to be an adult, was likely somebody's pet.

"How that cat held on at high speeds like that is amazing. I want to know what happened to the cat. People in Omaha want to know what happened to the cat. Lets find out what happened to this poor cat," Langan continued.
