TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - New technology at a local grocery store will make it easier for you to get in and out in record time.

Dillons showed of their new "Scan, Bag and Go" system at the north store Tuesday afternoon. "Scan, Bag and Go" allows you to use a wireless handheld scanner or an app on your smartphone to scan items and bag them. You then head to self checkout and scan a code to pay, making your time in the store shorter.

"We've heard great things," said Sheila Lowrie, the Corporate Affairs Manager. "Not only the customer who was able to shop with her son but some of our older customers who may not have a smart phone, they love this technology because they can access their digital coupons and see that running total of their grocery bill while they're checking out their groceries."

Dillons says customers will soon be able to pay for their groceries through the app without scanning a code through self checkout. The store says they will continue to have cashiers at the stores.
