TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) — A wreck involving a motorcycle backed up traffic on southbound U.S. 75 in north Topeka late Thursday afternoon.

The Kansas Highway Patrol says a motorcycle was traveling north on Hwy. 75 near the Westgate Bridge around 4 p.m.

According to witnesses, the motorcycle tried to pass on the inside shoulder and struck a log. The jolt threw the driver off the bike, but the motorcycle kept going north, then through the grass median and into the soutbound lanes, where it hit a blue Dodge pickup.

The driver of the motorcycle suffered minor injuries. The driver of the truck was not injured, but his pickup was totaled.

Traffic returned to normal within an hour.
