TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Are you prepared for an attack? Pinnacle Fitness wants to make sure you are ready, just in case.
The Topeka-based gym plans to host free family self-defense classes Sunday, May 20, in order to promote the awareness of family safety.
Martial arts instructor Jayson Self says self-defense is not 'one-size fits all', and requires specific instructions for different age groups.
"We don't live in an era where you can leave your front door open anymore," he said. "Everyone needs to have a plan for survival."
Self also says the class has many benefits.
"It will provide confidence, and gives you the understanding that you need to be aware," he said.
Self hopes the class will teach different techniques that help families stay safe in a difficult situation.
"Everybody wants to protect their family, that's what this class is for."
There is no registration required for the class. The class will occur from 3:00-4:30 pm at 907 SW 37th Terrace.
