LAWRENCE, Kan. (WIBW) — A Lawrence man is dead after a motorcycle crash on the city's east side early Sunday morning.

The Lawrence Journal-World says two men were riding on N. 1550 Road just after midnight when a deer jumped in front of them.

Officials say the first man's bike ended up on its side after he tried to miss the deer.

The second man was thrown off of his motorcycle after hitting the disabled bike.

He was airlifted to a Kansas City hospital where he died from his injuries. The other man was taken to Stormont-Vail in Topeka with non-life threatening injuries.

Neither of their names have been released.
