TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- A Lawrence man is in custody after a police chase ended Saturday morning.
Lawrence Police say they attempted to pull over a vehicle after a traffic violation near 9th Street and Crestline Drive around 7:30 a.m.
The driver did not yield and continued west on 6th street and onto 40 Highway.
Police pursued the vehicle into Shawnee County where the driver began throwing illegal drugs out the window of the car.
Shawnee County officials spiked the vehicle and were able to pop several tires.
The driver continued until he crashed into a retaining wall near 21st Street and Buchanan Street in Topeka.
Authorities took the male driver into custody 45 minutes after the pursuit began. He was booked into the Douglas County Jail.
The driver was the only person in the vehicle. No one was injured.
