KSHSAA rules Topeka High football must vacate wins from 2017

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- The Kansas State High School Activities Association ruled on Wednesday that the Topeka High football team had to vacate all eight wins from the 2017 season for using an ineligible player.

KSHSAA confirmed that Jacqez Barksdale did not make the proper move to Topeka High after transferring (and having it initially approved) from Highland Park before the 2017-2018 school year.

The KSHSAA executive board voted on Wednesday that Barksdale played all 10 football games while ineligible and the Trojans would have to vacate the eight wins from 2017 and its share of the Centennial League title.

Barksdale's transfer was cleared but Topeka High contacted KSHSAA on November 30th when they discovered a concern when doing a visit to Barksdale's home.

13 NEWS has reached out to Trojan football coach Walt Alexander but at this time has not heard back.
