KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WIBW) — You don't have to go far for the best barbecue in the country.
According to the New York Post, it's just an hour's drive away - in Kansas City, Kansas. (Of course, we all knew the best BBQ is in KC, right?)
That's right, perennial favorite Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que topped the paper's list of top 28 barbecue joints in America. The lucky eaters who got to make this list highlighted Joe's "slow-smoked meats slathered in a thick, sweet, tomato-and-molasses-based sauce."
If you go they recommend getting the pork and beef brisket, "or, if you can't decide between the two, go for the Smoky Joe."
After filling up on brisket there, the 3rd-best spot is only a few hours more away - in St. Louis, Missouri. Pappy's Smokehouse took home the bronze.
Calling the place "a local legend" and its ribs "genre-defining," writes loved its "sauce heavy barbecue with a light tangy, tomato-based sauce."
Sadly, those were the only two restaurants to make the list - but, I'm sure we can all think of one or two around here that should have.
