Historic first day of qualifying at Kansas Nationals

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- It was a historic day at Heartland Park Topeka on Friday for the first day of qualifying in the NHRA Kansas Nationals.

If you like records there were plenty on the track during the Mello Yello Series qualifying.

Nine out of the 10 fastest Funny Car runs in NHRA history happened Friday night at Heartland Park Topeka.

Brittany Force set a new national elapsed time record with a 3.676 at 325 MPH.

Before that Matt Hagan set the national record for the fastest Funny qualifying sessions NHRA history, topping out at 335.57 MPH.

Qualifying continues Saturday at Heartland Park Topeka starting at 1:3o p.m.
