Good Kid Reesey Lord has high hopes of winning the American Miss Pageant

TOPEKA (WIBW) -- All her friends and family know Reese Lord as "Reesey." And you may get to know her as 2017's Miss Kansas Princess, after she won the statewide title in Wichita.

Reese, who's 6, and a student at West Indianola in the Seaman District, is also in a cancer battle with two close relatives also dealing with cancers. But they're all fighters, and are encouraging Reese to go for it.

Miss Lord had never competed in a pageant of any kind before now, but she's already won it all for Kansas as a cancer survivor, dancer and gymnast.

You can watch her in action on her own YouTube Channel

Reese and her mother both sent Ralph Hipp and Melissa Brunner a letter, saying the cancer "cannot take away her smile, her confidence or take away her fight."

She'll soon be in California for the National American Miss Pageant.

You can contact Ralph at ralph.hipp@wibw.com and he'll connect you with the Lord family if you'd like to make a donation to cover the costs of Reesey's pageant competition. They will thank you!
