TOPEKA (WIBW) -- Good Kid Audrey Kuta is now an 8th Grade Student at Christ the King School. At the end of her 7th grade year, she entered the "Champions for Life" essay contest through the Vitae Foundation. The essay was open to all 7th grade students in the Kansas City Diocese.

The students were given the slogan "Encouraging A Culture of Life" for the essay topic. Audrey's essay was chosen out of 225 entries from 30 different schools within the Kansas City Diocese.

The grand prize was throwing out a ceremonial first pitch at the Royals vs. Chicago White Sox game on Thursday, August 11th, along with dugout tickets and an amazing tour of Kauffman Stadium.

Audrey is pictured with her dad, Kurt Kuta, who was her catcher. The best part....all the practice in the backyard with her Dad paid off. She threw a strike right across the plate!
