Funeral arranagements set for Wamego firefighter

WAMEGO, Kan. (WIBW) -- IMPORTANT UPDATE: The funeral for the Wamego volunteer firefighter who died Tuesday from injuries sustained while on duty the previous day has been changed.

According to the Wamego Fire Dept., services for John Randle will now be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 6, at Wamego Middle School, 1701 Kaw Valley Rd., in Wamego. The burial will occur at 2:00 pm, Sunday, January 7, 2018, at Iuka Township Cemetery, NE 60th St, Iuka, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Wamego Firefighter Auxiliary through Stewart Funeral Home.

"John was the one that was always at special events, helping firefighters along the way, I can’t say enough about his dedication to our community,” Wamego Chief Phil Stultz told 13 NEWS.

Members of multiple area fire departments have stepped up to help man the Wamego Fire Dept. so its firefighters can mourn their fallen brother, Stultz added.
