Fort Riley soldier death believed suicide

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW)-- Officials say a Fort Riley soldier is dead after an apparent suicide.

KMAN Radio is reporting that 20 year-old Wyatt Ivy of Monett, Missouri was found dead late Thursday night in Clay County.

Officials say Ivy was located in his vehicle shortly after 11:15 p.m.

Authorities say that Riley County police notified Clay County officials shortly before 11 p.m. that they were on the lookout for Ivy, who was thought to be suicidal.

Ivy was based at Fort Riley assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division but had not deployed.

Ivy was 20 years-old, an M1 armor crewman arrived at Fort Riley in February of 2015, listed a home of record in Monett, Missouri.
