Fire Marshall releases name of man killed in Dec. 26 fire

WAMEGO, Kan. (WIBW) -- The state Fire Marshal has released the name of the Wamego man killed in a Pottawatomie Co. house fire on the day after Christmas.

According to the Fire Marshal's Office, Wade Parkhurst was found dead inside the home at 3769 Stewart Farm Road, which is located between Wamego and St. George, just south of Highway 24.

The cause of death was listed as toxic gases from the fire.

Investigators say the cause of the fire is undetermined. They added the most likely cause was a failure of several electrical components.

Four other people were reportedly in the home at the time and were able to escape safely.
