TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Shawnee Co. Commission will vote Thursday on a conditional use permits for a reception, conference and assembly venue in southwest Shawnee County.

Rory and Angela Dake want to develop Hidden Hill Farms at 73rd and Indian Hills Rd. It would be an event venue for weddings, receptions, retreats, conferences and other social gatherings. The outdoor venue includes plans for a 10 acre meadow surrounding a pond.

While the location is out in the country, the land does have neighbors. Dake says he's spoken with them about the plans.

"We know our neighbors fairly well and I'll be honest with you, I think our neighbors are pretty comfortable and very comfortable with what we're doing and pretty comfortable with us as well," he said. "I don't see that as much of a worry at all and we've talked to almost everybody here so I'm pretty confident that everybody is pretty comfortable with all that."

Dake said if the permit is approved, they do not have an opening date.
