Family connections fuel Topeka's Team Hope 5k for Huntington's Disease

(WIBW) - It's huge impact on her own family inspired a Topeka woman to organize a event raising awareness about Huntington's Disease.

The Team Hope Walk and Run benefit 5K takes place Saturday, Oct. 8 at Lake Shawnee Shelter House 1 and 2.

Casey Montgomery is organizing it to honor her father and grandmother. Hear her talk about the tribute during her visit with Melissa on Eye on Northeast Kansas.

The walk raises awareness and raises money for the Huntington's Disease Society of America. The schedule for the day is:

8:45am - Registration
9:30am - Opening ceremony
10am - 5K begins
