TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)- Members of the community strapped on their helmets and got out to ride their bikes with some Topeka officials Wednesday.
Interim City Manager Doug Gerber hosted a bike ride, along with other department heads. He said it was a chance to enjoy the weather while commemorating National Bike Month.
Those who joined biked from City Hall to Gage Park and back, which totaled about 6 1/2 miles.
Gerber said the bike ride shows that Topeka is trying to become a more bike-friendly community.
"We're doing a lot with sharrows on the streets, bike paths and our trails, and we just want to be a more modern, bike friendly city," Gerber said."
Some people rented bikes from the city while others brought their own.
